If your partner or relative has Parkinsons you may not think of yourself as a carer, but this group is designed for you. Being a partner , a friend or family member of someone with Parkinson’s can often make you feel a bit isolated, or feel a bit helpless, or at a bit of a loss as to where to get help and support. This group is there as a chance for you to come and chat to other carers, who understand that sometimes it is good to talk, they may have found ways of coping with a problem that has cropped up or you might be able to share your discoveries too. Alongside a chance to sit and chat, we also invite in speakers from time to time, guided by what people need to know, about care issues such as finance, equipment, accessing services etc. Keep an eye out on the news page for news of speakers.
The group is run on the third Tuesday of each month at Age UK Claremont Centre Bath Street from 12-1pm. This meeting is at the same time as the exercise class, so that the person you care for can go and get some exercise, while you chat and have a cup of tea! The meeting is free and open to all.
