About Kerstin:
I’ve been dancing since I was about 3 years old and now teach fitness and dance to those aged 5 to 105!

As well as Zumba, I teach tap, ballet, contemporary dance and acrobatics and specialise in developing classes for adults. I also choreograph for a local theatre company and have performed in numerous stage shows as well as on Television.

When I’m not doing something dance-based, I can be found eating cake and looking after my four girls!

Our initial Parkinson’s Seated Zumba Gold Group began in July 2015. This class was inherited from a previous exercise instructor and I’ve developed it in my own style, further going on to create the additional BCAS class.

We aim to provide a fun, friendly, welcoming environment, for those of all abilities to enjoy and benefit from gentle exercise to music, as well as a providing a great social network for like-minded individuals.

Tuesday 11.30-12.30 Seated Gold

Improving range of movement, agility, strength and co-ordination fun, music-based exercise with props to aid movement.

All exercise is aimed at those with Parkinsons, with movements tailored to assist in maintaining maximum mobility.

Wear comfortable clothing and trainers if possible (though not essential). Please bring your own drink. If you need help to get up from a chair, please bring a carer with you.

Mondays 1.30pm – Body Conditioning and Strength class

This class is led by Mandy Morris, who is a fully licensed and trained keep fit instructor.

The exercises focus on strengthening your whole body ,fine motor skills, joints, flexibility and balance and is more demanding than the Tuesday class. However, if you need to sit, Mandy can adapt the exercises for you.

Wear comfortable clothing and trainers if possible.

Why Exercise is Important:

  • Maintaining regular, gentle, stimulating physical activity
  • Delays the progression of Parkinsons.
  • Keeping the joints moving as mobility becomes compromised
  • Improving strength, balance, grip, flexibility and range of movement helping with freezing and tremors
  • Socialising – getting out of the house & having fun
  • Retaining a sense of control
  • Developing a positive new habit
  • Non judgmental. Can’t do every move? Everyone is in the same boat

What our classes mean to all of us: EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, PROTECTIVE, LOVING, TRUSTING.

We share so much together, we look after each other. Our rapport is paramount. We are so much more than just exercise classes. We’ve formed a community, a social network, we have FUN
